Whittington - Julia Beatty

Mrs. Julia Whittington, wife of Tyre G. Whittington, died April 5, 1901, at the old home in Brown township, Montgomery county, Indiana.  She was born in Shelby county, Ky., October 18, 1822, aged 78 years, 8 months and 17 days.  She united with the Baptist church at Simpsonville, Ky., in the year of 1841.  She was married to Tyre Glenn Whittington December 15, 1842, and moved to the state of Indiana in March 1850.  To them was born eight children, six sons and two daughters, William H., James L., John., Sarah F., Ben D., George W., Lucy E. and Sherman G., all serving her exempt Sarah F., who proceeded her some years ago.  She lived at the one place the whole of the time since moving to this state exempt one month on arriving in this state, which time was spent on the farm now owned by W.R. Canine near Freedom church.  The funeral was held at the family residence at ten o'clock Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Cuppy, of Waveland., Ind., after which the burial took place at the Indian Creek cemetery.  We wish to state that we sincerely thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness in the sickness and death of our dear companion and mother. - kbz

Mrs. Julia Ann Beatty Whittington wife of Tyre G. Whittington died at the old homestead in this township, April 5. The funeral service at the residence on Sunday, was conducted by Rev. WT Cuppy. Sje was born in Shelby County, Ky Oct 18, 1822. She united with the Baptist Church at Simpsonville in 1841. Dec 15, 1842 she was married to Tyre G. Whittington. To them were born: William H; James L; John T; Sarah F; Ben D; George W; Lucy E and Sherman G. They moved to Indiana in 1850 and have always lived in this township.
